MCHS Drops 3 Games
The Montgomery County High School Eagles baseball team played three games last week, falling in all of them. MCHS faced Portal on Monday on the road, Telfair County on Tuesday at home, and then were in McRae for another game against Telfair on Friday. vs. Portal
MCHS got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning, but the Panthers answered with five runs in the bottom of the first, to take a 5-1 lead.
Neither team scored in the second inning, but in the bottom of the third, Portal went on a tear as they scored 11 runs to win the game by the run rule, 16-1.
Eric White had the only hit of the game for MCHS as he drove in Landan Williams, who had reached base after being hit by a pitch. vs. Telfair
Telfair took the lead in the top of the first inning with one run, and they extended that lead in the third inning with three more runs as they led, 4-0.
MCHS bounced back in the bottom of the fourth inning as Luke Burns came through with an RBI double, Abisael Mezquititla hit a triple that drove in two runs, and Taylor Scott drove in a run with a fielder’s choice. That tied the game, 4-4.
Telfair added a run in the top of the fifth inning to take the lead back and then plated two more in the sixth to build a 7-4 lead. MCHS scored one more run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but it was not enough as they fell, 7-5. vs. Telfair
In McRae on Friday the Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Scott was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to put the first run on the board, and then Mason Barwick walked to score another run. Ramsey Jordan added an RBI single as the Eagles took a 3-0 lead.
But in the bottom of the first inning, the Trojans put four runs on the board to jump ahead, 4-3. Telfair added two more runs in the second inning as they extended their lead to 6-3. The Trojans capped the night off with two more in the fifth as they took the win, 8-3.
This week MCHS was at Appling County on Monday, and hosted Wilcox County on Tuesday, both after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday at Wilcox County at 5:30 p.m.
