Surveillance Video Catches Sunday Break-In at Brown’s

Brown’s Jewelry had several diamond rings and a set of flatware dishes stolen early Sunday morning, February 23.
According to Brown’s Jewelry Owner Kristin Edkin, the suspect is believed to have come across the railroad tracks near the former Tappa’s restaurant to the parking lot in Meadows Park. He then appears to have walked in the alley beside the former Floating Axe location and back around in a circle during his attempt to break into the business. Video surveillance footage of the suspect was recorded in several of these areas.
The suspect busted the glass of the businesses front door and allegedly proceeded to crash the glass case which held the rings. Droplets of blood on the case and throughout the store indicated the suspect injured himself during the robbery.
Edkin said that video surveillance showed the suspect as a tall, slim male, who wore latex baby blue gloves, brown boots, and dark clothing during his heist.
“I’m thankful that we are all okay and that this didn’t take place during business hours,” Edkin remarked. “It would have ended a lot differently.”
The Vidalia Police Department was contacted regarding the case, but no further details were available for release at the time of press.
