TCHS Baseball Gets 2 Wins

The Toombs County High School baseball team faced off with Dublin, Ware County, and Coffee County last week. They picked up wins over Dublin and Coffee, but fell to the Gators of Ware. vs. Dublin
Ty Hutcheson delivered a stellar performance on the mound, striking out 10 batters and allowing just five hits over seven scoreless innings as the Toombs County Bulldogs defeated Dublin 4-0 on Monday. Hutcheson was in complete control, issuing no walks in the shutout victory.
The Bulldogs took an early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Ryder Sears drove in a run with a groundout.
Jackson Jenkins led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Joseph Owens and Nick Carroll also tallied two hits each. Toombs County’s aggressive base running kept Dublin on edge, with Kipp Mosley and Carroll each stealing multiple bases. The Bulldogs racked up seven stolen bases in total.

The Toombs County Bulldogs struggled to keep pace with Ware County on Tuesday, falling 13- 1.
Despite the tough loss, Cameron Ledford and Nick Carroll provided bright spots at the plate, each collecting two hits for the Bulldogs. Defensively, Toombs County turned a double play, showing moments of strong execution in the field.
On the mound, Jackson Jenkins took the loss, pitching one inning with one strikeout and no walks. vs. Coffee
Runs were hard to come by on Friday night, but the Toombs County Bulldogs found a way to grind out a 3-2 victory over Coffee in a battle on the mound.
Pitching led the way, with Ty Hutcheson delivering an outstanding performance. Hutcheson threw five no-hit innings, striking out five and walking just one. Jackson Jenkins came in as relief to close things out for the Bulldogs.
In the bottom of the 2nd inning Ryder Sears put Toombs County on the board with an RBI single. In the top of the 7th inning Coffee briefly took the lead with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly to go up 2-1, but in the bottom of the frame Jackson Jenkins was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing in the tying run. Toombs County capitalized on a Coffee wild pitch to walk it off for the victory.
Ryder Sears, Slade McDonald, Tyson Brantley, Riley Kersey, Jackson Jenkins, Joseph Owens, and Nick Carroll each recorded a hit. Sears and Jenkins drove in the Bulldogs’ runs.
Defensively, the Bulldogs were sharp, turning a key double play and committing zero errors in the field.
This week TCHS hosted Washington County on Monday after presstime. They will be back in action on Wednesday at home against Pierce County at 4:00 p.m., and will travel to Washington County on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
