Vikings Win Two Games

The Treutlen County High School Vikings baseball team lost to Hawkinsville on Tuesday, but bounced back with a win over East Laurens on Thursday and then got revenge against Hawkinsville on Friday. vs. Hawkinsville

Treutlen scored a run in the top of the first inning to take the early lead, and then added two more in the second to lead, 3-0. But in the bottom of the second, the Devils tied the game at 3-3, and they added three more in the third to take a 6-3 lead.

The Vikings came back and tied the game in the top of the fourth inning at 6-6, but five more from Hawkinsville in the bottom of the fourth gave them a 11-6 lead. The Devils added another run in the fifth to push their lead to 12-6.

Treutlen did plate two more in the sixth, but Hawkinsville answered with two in the bottom of the sixth. Treutlen scored one more in the seventh, but that was all they could get as they fell to the Devils, 14-9.

Treutlen got on the board first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning. Brylan Ikner doubled in a run to get things going, and Jackson McCoy drove in another run for the early 2-0 lead. The Falcons tied the game in the top of the third inning with two runs, but in the bottom of the third, the Vikings went back ahead. The big hit in the inning came from Acie Dickens, who hit a threerun home run to put Treutlen on top, 5-2. Treutlen added one more run in the inning on a bases loaded walk by Peyton Miller, for a 6-2 lead.

The Vikings picked up another run in the fourth inning, but two more from East Laurens in the fifth closed the lead to 7-4. In the bottom of the fifth, the Vikings plated another run to push the lead to 8-4, but three more runs from the Falcons made it an 8-7 game.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Falcons scored two more runs as they took their first lead of the game, 9-8. But in the bottom of the seventh, with runners on base, Miller delivered a two-run single to give the Vikings the win, 10-9. vs. Hawkinsville

The Devils picked up a run in the top of the first inning, but Treutlen put one on the board in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 1-1. Hawkinsville added another in the second to make it 2-1, but Treutlen scored two in the bottom half on balls hit by Kylan Page and Jack Walker. That put the Vikings on top, 3-2.

Treutlen plated four more runs in the third inning, with Gavin Bailey driving in one run, and Miller coming through with a 3-RBI single to take a 7-2 lead.

Hawkinsville did get a run in the top of the fourth, and one more in the seventh, but it was not enough as the Vikings won the game, 7-4.

The Vikings are off to a 3-3 start on the season and they are 1-1 in Region play. This week Treutlen hosted Wheeler County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Wednesday at Twiggs County at 4:00 p.m. for a double header.
