Wheeler Rec. Hosts Camp

What a day at the ballpark! The Wheeler County Recreation Department had 26 young, determined athletes step up to the plate, eager to sharpen their baseball skills. The players worked hard, rotating through skill stations focused on baserunning, throwing, catching, hitting fundamentals, and infield/outfield defense. The effort, energy, and enthusiasm were outstanding.
This camp would not have been possible without the incredible support of the community. They wanted to recognize Cintas of Vidalia for providing the camp tshirts and Fat Boys Camo for the awesome design and printing. The Alamo Lions Club and Wheeler County Chamber of Commerce ensured the players stayed fueled, and grilled up some topnotch hamburgers and hotdogs for lunch. A special shoutout to Angie and Curtis Purvis of Purvis Roofing for supplying snacks to keep the athletes going strong. Also, a special shoutout to Elaine Page for baking and decorating beautiful baseball cookies for all the players.
We were also fortunate to have outstanding coaches leading the way. Coaches Joseph Page, Hunter Page, and Brian Screws ran skill stations with passion and expertise, ensuring every player walked away better than they came. WCHS baseball players Kolt Bell and Carson Ford stepped up in a big way, assisting at the stations and helping manage the camp.
This camp was a true team effort, and WCRD couldn’t be prouder of the players, coaches, and community members who made it all happen. They are already looking forward to next year.
