BPC Track At NAIA Indoor

The Brewton-Parker College Barons track & field teams competed at the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Gainesville, Fla., on January 30. The Barons sent three athletes to compete: Hollis Morton in the high jump, Travis Massey in the 60m, and Kendra Payne in the 400m. The event marked a significant achievement for the Barons' indoor track and field program. It showcased remarkable individual performances in a highly competitive collegiate setting.
Travis Massey, a standout for the Barons, delivered a memorable performance by finishing third in the 60m dash with a time of 6.71. This remarkable effort secured him a podium finish, set a new school record, and earned him All-American status.
In another noteworthy performance, Kendra Payne exhibited resilience and skill by setting a school record in the 400m. Although she finished 10th, her performance remains a testament to her hard work and dedication to improving her craft.
Director of Track and Field, Tony Hawkins, praised the athletes' performances, stating, 'The athletes exceeded expectations as this was the first indoor national championships for all of them. We look forward to continued progress for the outdoor season.' His optimistic outlook reinforces the program's strong foundation and promising future as they continue their competitive journey.
The Barons are now setting their sights on further achievements. Their next event is scheduled for March 8, as they begin the outdoor season. The team looks to build on their success and continue their momentum in the upcoming outdoor season.
