J.D. Dickerson Primary School recently wrapped up a fun-filled Read Across America Week, which celebrated the joy of reading and brought the school community together through literacy-focused activities. The week-long event included visits from over 100 parents, community members, and fellow Vidalia City Schools staff and students, who took time to read to classrooms and share their love of books with young learners.

The grand finale took place at Vidalia High School, where JDD students paraded in full costume as their favorite book characters. The VHS student athlete serving as the parade marshal led the way, while the VHS percussion team added excitement with their energetic performance. The event was expertly hosted by Missy Owens, who kept the enthusiasm high as students proudly showcased their creative costumes.

JDD's administrative team, Principal Charleen Norfleet and Assistant Principal Beth Wiggins, extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff, students, and community for making this week such a success. They offer a special thank you to Vidalia High School for providing the space for this memorable parade, ensuring a fantastic finale to a week dedicated to fostering a love for reading.
