Toombs County Schools Earn “Ready Georgia Seal of Preparedness” Recognition

Toombs County Schools has been named a recipient of the “Ready Georgia Seal of Preparedness,” which commends the school for its dedication to ensuring student safety.
This prestigious recognition highlights the dedication of Toombs County Schools to emergency preparedness, ensuring that students and staff are equipped with the knowledge and resources necessary to respond to various safety situations.
The Toombs County School System is proud to announce that Toombs County High School and Toombs Central Elementary School have been awarded the “Ready Georgia Seal of Preparedness” by the Georgia Department of Education (Ga-DOE) and the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS).
While these two schools have received the official recognition this year, all five schools in the system (Toombs County High School, Toombs County Middle School, Lyons Primary School, Lyons Upper Elementary School, and Toombs Central Elementary) participated in the application process, reflecting a system-wide dedication to safety and preparedness. The commitment shown by each school reinforces the Toombs County School System’s proactive approach to student and staff well-being.
Superintendent Barry Waller praised the collective efforts of administrators, teachers, and support staff across the district, stating, “Our goal is to ensure that every Toombs County school remains a safe place for students and staff to learn and grow. This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our faculty and staff, and we are proud of all our schools for their ongoing efforts in emergency preparedness.”
The district will continue to build on these efforts, striving for excellence in safety measures across all campuses. The schools that were not awarded the seal this year remain committed to the same high standards.
