Treutlen Takes 2 From Twiggs

The Treutlen County High School Vikings baseball team played three games last week. They started off the week with an extra inning loss against rival Wheeler County. They bounced back on Wednesday with a sweep of a double header over Twiggs County. vs. Wheeler

It was a pitching dual between Kolt Bell of Wheeler and Gavin Bailey of Treutlen.

The first run of the game came in the bottom of the third inning as Treutlen managed to get a run across to take the lead, 1-0. The run came in off an error by the Bulldogs.

Wheeler tied the game in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single from KJ Williams. That made the score 1-1.

Neither team was able to plate a run over the next three innings, sending the game into extra innings. In the top of the eighth inning the Bulldogs got a bit RBI double from Carson Ford to take the lead, 2-1, over the Vikings.

In the bottom of the inning, Ford was on the mound in relief and kept Treutlen off the board as Wheeler took the 2-1 win. vs. Twiggs Game 1 The Vikings loaded the bases in the top of the first inning, and they scored their first run of the game on a walk by Peyton Miller. Then a couple of wild pitches added two more runs to the board to make the score 3-0.

The Vikings extended their lead in the second inning as they plated four more runs. Jake Brooks walked with the bases loaded, then a single by Jack Walker drove in two more runs. Miller hit into a fielder's choice to score another run to push the lead to 7- 0.

Treutlen scored three more in the third inning as Brylan Ikner stole home to push the lead to 8-0. Walker walked in another run, and Kylan Page singled to make the score 10-0. Three more runs came in for the Vikings in the fourth inning as they took the win by the run rule, 13-0.

Game 2

The Vikings scored eight runs in the top of the first inning to pull out to a big early lead. They loaded the bases with several more walks that brought in runs. Ikner did have an RBI single and Walker grounded out, but two runs scored on the play.

The game ended up being called early with the Vikings winning, 8-0.

This week the Vikings were at Vidalia on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Wednesday with Dooly County coming to town for a Region double header. The first game will be at 4:00 p.m.
