Wheeler Over Treutlen
The Wheeler County High School baseball team got one game in last week as they faced off with rival Treutlen County. It was a nail-biter between these two teams that went into extra innings with the Bulldogs taking the win over the Vikings.
It was a pitching dual between Kolt Bell of Wheeler and Gavin Bailey of Treutlen.
The first run of the game came in the bottom of the third inning as Treutlen managed to get a run across to take the lead, 1-0. The run came in off an error by the Bulldogs.
Wheeler tied the game in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single from KJ Williams. That made the score 1-1.
Neither team was able to plate a run over the next three innings, sending the game into extra innings. In the top of the eighth inning, the Bulldogs got a big RBI double from Carson Ford to take the lead, 2-1, over the Vikings.
In the bottom of the inning, Ford was on the mound in relief and kept Treutlen off the board as Wheeler took the 2-1 win.
This week Wheeler was at Wilcox County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday at home against Wilcox at 5:30 p.m.
