In a high scoring clash at Brewton-Parker College on March 14, the Barons faced defeat to the William Carey Crusaders with a final score of 3117. Despite the setback, several Barons players stood out with individual performances.
The Barons' offensive efforts were led by Marquette Gibson, who scored five runs and contributed significantly with four RBIs, including a grand slam that lit up the seventh inning. Fred Diaz also made a lasting impact with a grand slam in the same inning, concluding the day with four RBIs. Contributions also came from Carson Kirby, who added three runs, and Kendell Wade, who not only secured two runs but hit a solo home run, ending his game contributions with one RBI.
The starting pitcher for the game, Shaun Carlos Munoz, faced a tough lineup from William Carey. Despite Brewton-Parker's spirited efforts highlighted by Gibson and Diaz's seventh-inning heroics, the Crusaders managed to maintain strong momentum to secure their victory.
The Barons do not have much time to dwell on this loss as they prepare to meet William Carey again on March 15 at Mount Vernon. The team currently holds a record of 9 wins and 13 losses overall, with a conference record of 4-9. As they regroup and refine their strategies, the Barons are focused on turning their season around in the upcoming rematch.
