This year marks the 18th annual Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation’s (GBHCMF) Grant Award Luncheon, an event dedicated to honoring ministries across the state that have demonstrated effective and efficient direct health care services to their local communities. This year, Brewton-Parker College (BPC) was awarded a $150,000 grant to support its growing school of nursing. By expanding opportunities for aspiring nurses and addressing the critical nursing shortage, BPC continues to serve the community in alignment with one of its core values, servant leadership. The program’s growth allows for the training of more qualified applicants, helping to meet the increasing demand for skilled nurses in the region.
The annual luncheon allows GBHCMF's Board an opportunity to recognize ministries across the state that have demonstrated excellence in delivering direct healthcare services to their local communities by emphasizing Christian living and showing compassionate care to the ones they serve. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded over $80 million in grants, and the GBHCMF is honored and blessed to continue providing financial support to these vital ministries. Their desire is to see these funds help lighten the burden of those who offer health care services as well as those who ultimately receive those benefits. Brewton- Parker President, Dr. Steven Echols stated, “We are incredibly grateful for the generous support from the Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation. This grant strengthens our commitment to equipping future nurses with the skills needed to provide quality healthcare and allows us to expand our impact by addressing the critical nursing shortage in our area.'
GBHCMF believes Brewton-Parker College’s ministry has demonstrated an active service that aligns with the GBHCMF’s core mission to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ through the provision of direct health care services. For more than 100 years, the Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry has offered a ministry of healing to those in need. Providing grant funds to these nonprofit healthcare providers fulfills their mission of service through local organizations.
