The Dr. Mark and Tonya Spivey Public Library will be hosting a celebration in recognition of the library’s 2-year anniversary and the naming of Howard Holman as the Georgia Library Champion of the Year on Friday, April 11.
The event will feature an open house from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and children’s programs from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. to allow the public to peruse the facility and learn more about the programs which the library has to offer. The children’s activities will feature the Public Broadcasting System’s “What You Can Become” program, and local animal rescues, veterinarians, and animal professionals will be on-site to speak on these careers, as April 11 is also National Pet Day.
At 2 p.m., representatives from the Georgia Public Library System will present Holman with an award and will give a check to the Friends of the Library members in support of the group’s mission. Following these ceremonies, light refreshments and cake will be available.
The library is located at 610 Jackson Street in Vidalia. For more information on this event or other programs at the facility, call (912) 537-9283.
