The City of Vidalia recently announced that former Metter Police Chief Rob Shore has joined the Vidalia Police Department as the Captain of Administration.
Shore has decades of law enforcement experience, having served as an officer in several police departments in the area, and as a military police in the U.S. Army and a member of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Task Force. He joined the Metter Police Department in 2016 as a Captain, and eventually became the department’s chief in January 2018. Shore led the department as chief until his resignation last month, which he stated was because of the realization that there are “times in life when we have to balance priorities and responsibilities.” He spoke on this new role, stating, “I’m very excited to be joining the Vidalia Police Department. There are a lot of great things happening in this city and within the department, and I’m excited to be a part of it.” Vidalia city officials shared that they believe Shore’s leadership, investigative expertise, and deep understanding of multiagency collaboration will be an asset to the Vidalia Police Department. Vidalia City Manager Josh Beck commented on this addition to the Department, remarking, “We are thrilled to welcome Rob Shore to the Vidalia Police Department. His extensive background, particularly his experience working with cities, counties, and various agencies, will be a tremendous asset to our city. Mayor [Doug] Roper, City Council, and I are very excited about this addition to the department.”
Beck clarified that though Shore joins the Department as Captain of Administration, the Department is still actively searching for the next Vidalia Police Chief, and that updates on this search will be shared as they become available.
