The Toombs County High School Technology Student Association (TSA) is continuing to thrive, as members recently won the CO2 Dragster Competition, and received the Emory Sports Performance and Research Center (SPARC) Grant.
Toombs County High School TSA Members Swan Cruz, Brockton Estrada, continued from page
and Tucker Bush designed, drew, and constructed a CO2 Dragster, which was evaluated by judges and then raced in a doubleelimination semifinal. Their car was the only undefeated dragster in the state, and defeated 120 opponents to take home the championship at the Georgia TSA State Conference.
'We are thrilled with the result of our team's work and we look forward to competing against the best in the nation at the National TSA conference in June,' Toombs County High School TSA Adviser Jess Bush commented.
Toombs County High School Principal Marissa Morris also spoke on the group’s success. “I am incredibly proud of our TSA students and their teacher, Mr. Bush, for their outstanding achievement at the GATSA event, where they won the dragster race! Their hard work, dedication, and teamwork truly paid off, and this victory has earned them the opportunity to compete at the national level in June. We wish them the best of luck as they represent Toombs County High School on the national stage, and we are excited to continue supporting their journey toward creating a legacy of excellence,” she emphasized.
In addition to this success, Toombs TSA is also working to expand upon its resources to work with virtual reality (VR), as the chapter was announced as one of only 20 schools in the state to be selected to receive the Emory SPARC Grant during the Georgia TSA State Conference. This grant has provided a team – consisting of Brockton Estrada, Julie Edenfield, Katie Eduardo, and Felipe Oliveros Barcenas – with 2 virtual reality headsets and controllers so that they may work to create a VR-related game that focuses on promoting health and wellness.
