Another Dominating Sweep for the Vidalia High School track & field teams. On Friday the Indians hosted the Indian Invitational and had a very big night as they both earned first place finishes and broke 2 school records along the way.

Georgia Meredith had a big run in the 3,200m, breaking the school record with a time of 11:40. Takaiyah Bacon tied the school record in triple jump with a jump of 37'10”, tying her own record from last season.

For the team results, the Lady Indians took 1st place with 220.5 points. Second place went to Bleckley County with 118.5, and third was Jeff Davis with 106.5. In the boys team race, VHS won with 26.5 points. Second place was Toombs County with 134 points, and third place was Bleckley County with 125 points.

Girls

The top three finishers for the Lady Indians were Georgia Meridith with a school record in the 3,200m race for 1st place. Takaiyah Bacon took 1st place in both the long jump and the triple jump where she tied the school record. J'Miyah Hunt placed 1st in both the 100m dash and in the 200m dash. Dashia Ford had a good day with 1st place in the 100m hurdles, 2nd place in the 300m hurdles, and she was 2nd in the triple jump. Zaviyana Walton took 1st in the 300m hurdles and was 3rd in the 100m hurdles.

the discus, and was also 3rd in the shot put. Zamiyah Hodges took 3rd in the 100m dash, and Jaiden Presley was 3rd in the long jump.

In the relays, the 4x100m team of Kayden Love, Journey Clements, Zamiyah Hodges, and J’Miyah Hunt finished in 1st place. The 4x200m team of Kayden Love, Dashia Ford, Zaviyana Walton, J’Miyah Hunt also took 1st place. The 4x800m team of Judith Hussey, Aidyn Driggers, Jesse Wynn, Georgia Meredith came in 2nd place. And the 4x400m team of Aidyn Driggers, Takaiyah Bacon, Jaiden Presley, Zaviyana Walton finished in 3rd.

Boys

For the VHS boys, Andre Jackson finished in 1st place in both the 100m and 200m dash. Jaydyn Yound came in 1st in both the 100m hurdles and the 300m hurdles. Adrian Newkirk came in 1st in the 400m, and Jayon Coleman finished 1st in the long jump.

Jordan Johnson finished 2nd in the 400m, and Chandler Stokes was 2nd in the 300m hurdles. Cash Driggers took 2nd in the 800m, and Tyler McKenney was 2nd in the 200m dash. Chamlee Evans was 3rd in both the 1,600m and the 3,200m runs. Ja/Marre Wiggs was 3rd in the 200m, DJ Wallace was 3rd in the 100m hurdles, and Dahjari Spikes finished 3rd in the triple jump.

The 4x100m relay team of Jaydyn Young, Adrian Newkirk, Tyler McKinney, and Andre Jackson took 1st place. The 4x200m team of Jaydyn Young, Adrian Newkirk, Ja’Marre Wiggs, an Andre Jackson came in 1st place. The 4x400m relay team of Jordan Johnson, Kashun Coney, Cash Driggers, and Adrian Newkirk came in 2nd place, and the 4x800m team of Jordan Johnson, Roderick Berry, Chamlee Evans, and Cash Driggers took 2nd place.

VHS Head Coach Mandy Godbee said, “These athletes love to compete and continue to impress on and off the track. The level of intensity they bring to practice and meets each week is producing results and exceeding their expectations. They are driven and hungry to continue to perfect their skill and improve each week. We are excited to see them continue to excel.”

The Indians were scheduled to travel to East Laurens on Tuesday of this week after presstime.
