Wheeler Drops 3 Games
The Bulldog baseball team of Wheeler County High School dropped three games last week. On Monday they fell to Tattnall County, and then they dropped two games to Bacon County, one on Tuesday and one on Friday. vs. Tattnall Tattnall jumped out with four runs in the top of the first inning. Wheeler did get a run in the bottom of the frame and they scored another in the second to close the lead to 4-2. Tattnall added a run in the third inning and another in the fourth to push their lead to 6-2.
Wheeler did plate one more run in the fourth, but two more from Tattnall in the fifth gave them an 8-3 win. vs. Bacon
Wheeler kept this game close, but five errors by the Bulldogs cost them the game. Wheeler picked up a run in the first inning on an RBI single from Kolt Bell and they pushed their lead to 2-0 off an RBI single from Trent Butler in the third inning.
But Bacon County came back with three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 3-2 lead. The Red Raiders scored two more in the fourth inning to push their lead to 5-2. Wheeler did pick up a run in the top of the fifth inning, but they could not get anymore as they fell, 5-3. vs. Bacon
On Friday in Alamo, it was all Bacon as they rolled to a run rule win in five innings. Bacon plated a run in the top of the first inning, and then blew the game open in the fourth inning with six more runs to take a 7-0 lead.
Four more runs from the Raiders in the top of the fifth inning pushed the lead to 11-0. They took the win by that score.
Wheeler is now 3-10 on the year and they are 3-4 in Region play. This week the Bulldogs will take off and will get back to action next Monday against Clinch County.
