TCHS Splits With Terrors


The Toombs County High School Bulldogs baseball team played two nonregion games against the Glynn Academy Terrors last week. The Bulldogs split those games as they won the first game and dropped the second game.
Game 1
The Toombs County Bulldogs put together a dominant performance on Tuesday, cruising past Glynn Academy with a 12-2 victory.
The Bulldogs struck first in the bottom of the first inning, as Joseph Owens singled to drive in a run. They poured it on in the second, scoring five runs on just two hits. Nick Carroll started the scoring with a sacrifice fly, followed by an RBI single from Tucker Braddy. Cameron Ledford drew a bases-loaded walk to score another, and Jackson Jenkins capped off the inning with a two run RBI single.
Toombs County added one more in the third, again via a walk drawn by Ledford.
Ty Hutchinson earned the win on the mound, going five innings and allowing four hits and two runs. He struck out four and walked four in the outing.
Carroll led the offensive charge, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Ryder Sears also collected two hits, and the team showed patience at the plate, drawing 12 total walks. Brody Benton, Ledford, Kipp Mosley, Tyson Brantley, and Owens each drew two free passes each.
The Bulldogs were sharp defensively, turning a double play and committing no errors.
Game 2
On Friday, the Bulldogs were at Glynn Academy for the second game of the week. This time is was the Terrors that came out on top.

the frame, the Terrors plated five runs to jump out, 5-1.
Toombs closed the lead in the second inning with three more runs, but Glynn added four more in the bottom of the second to take a 9-4 lead. Toombs added one more in the fifth inning and one in the seventh, but the Terrors picked up a run in the sixth, as they took the win over Toombs, 10-6.
Toombs is now 11-7 on the year, and they are 3-0 in Region action. This week the Bulldogs have a three-game series against Savannah Christian. They played the first game on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Wednesday in Savannah at 6:00 p.m. and then on Thursday in Lyons at 5:45 p.m.
