After an impressive 15-year journey as a coach at Vidalia High School, Coach William Harn has announced his retirement, leaving behind a legacy that spans both the boys’ and girls’ soccer programs.

Known for his dedication to the game and his unwavering support for his athletes, Coach Harn leaves behind a substantial legacy that will be remembered for years to come.

Coaching both the boys’ and girls’ teams from 2010 to 2015, Coach Harn laid a strong foundation for the soccer programs. During this time, he achieved over 50 wins with the boys’ team and guided them to a Region Championship in 2012, showcasing his ability to build competitive teams and foster teamwork.

Coach Harn’s success was even more pronounced with the girls’ team, where he accumulated an impressive 150 wins. Under his guidance, the girls’ program progressed to the playoffs in 9 out of 15 seasons, a testament to his ability to inspire and elevate his players. Notable accomplishments include seven Region Runner-Up finishes, an Elite 8 appearance, and six Sweet 16 appearances, culminating in a memorable State Runner-Up finish in 2019.

In addition to his record performing teams, Coach Harn demonstrated his commitment to the broader soccer community by coaching in the Specialty Sports All-Star match three times in the Coastal Empire Area. His passion for the sport and dedication to developing young athletes made him a respected figure in the region.

In his retirement announcement, Coach Harn expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to coach at Vidalia High School. “It has been an incredible honor and privilege to serve as the coach of this amazing group of young athletes. I am immensely grateful to the administration at Vidalia High School and the athletic department for the trust and support they have shown me over the years. One of the many reasons I have been successful is that I have been surrounded by great athletes

and coaches.” He also extended heartfelt thanks to his coaching staff, including assistant coaches Josh Harrell, Samantha Martin, and current assistants Arial Broadly, Benji Taylor, and Ella Owen. “It has been a pleasure working alongside all of our coaches. The experiences over the past years will always hold a special place in my heart,” he added.

Vidalia Athletic Director Tommy Dalley had these words to say about Harn. “As Coach Harn hangs up his whistle, he leaves behind a storied program filled with memories, skills imparted, and a legacy rooted deeply within the school and the wider community. His influence will undoubtedly continue to inspire future generations of soccer players at Vidalia High School.”
