Vikings Get Win Over Telfair

The Treutlen County High School Vikings baseball team played three games last week, falling in two of those. But they bounced back with a win in the final game of the week over Telfair County. The Vikings are now 10-8 on the season, and they are 6-3 in Region play. vs. Dublin

The first game of the week for Treutlen was against the Fighting Irish of Dublin on the road. It was all Dublin in this game.

The Irish took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, and they added three more runs in the second for a 5-0 lead. Treutlen did get on the board in the top of the third inning, but Dublin answered in the bottom half to make the score 6-1.

Dublin plated two more runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth on the way to an 11-1 win.

vs. Telfair

Treutlen then played a pair of Region games against Telfair County's Trojans. The first of those was on Tuesday of last week in Soperton.

Telfair scored three runs in the top of the first inning to jump ahead, but in the bottom of the third inning, Peyton Miller came through with an inside-thepark home run that tied the game at 3-3. The Trojans added a run in the top of the fourth inning, but Treutlen got an RBI from Acie Dickens to tie the game at 4-4.

Each team added a run in the fifth inning with Gavin Wood driving in Treutlen's. Telfair looked to have broken the game open in the top of the sixth inning as they plated four runs to take a 9-5 lead, but the Vikings again had an answer. Two big RBI doubles, including one by Caden Parrish, that tied the game at 9-9. Neither team scored in the seventh inning to send the game into extra innings, tied at 9-9. Telfair came through with two runs in the top of the eighth, and Treutlen was held in the bottom half of the frame with the Trojans winning the game, 11-9. vs. Telfair

Friday's game in McRae was very different as Treutlen ran away with the win. In the top of the second inning, an RBI hit by Gavin Bailey put the Vikings on the board, 2-0. Treutlen added two more runs in the top of the third inning to push their lead to 4-0.

Telfair did manage a run in the bottom of the third, but the Vikings answered with a run in the top of the fourth inning. Treutlen added three more runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh on the way to a 9-1 win over the Trojans.

The Vikings have this week off for spring break.
