Toombs County Soccer Over Woodville Wolverines

The Toombs County High School soccer teams took on the Wolverines of Woodville-Tompkins last week. Both the boys and girls came away with wins over the Region opponent.

Girls

In the girls game, the Lady Bulldogs picked up a goal in the first half of the game against the Lady Wolverines. Woodville also picked up a goal in the first half of the game, sending the contest to halftime, tied at 1-1.

In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs found the back of the net one more time, and that was enough as they held the Wolverines scoreless. That gave TCHS the 2-1 win..

Boys

The game was close in the first half as Toombs picked up one goal, but kept Woodville off the board. With that Toombs took a 1-0 lead into halfitme.

But in the second half, the Bulldogs went on a tear as they added three goals on the way to a 4-0 win.

Four different Bulldogs scored on the day. They were Axcel Barbosa, Angel Morales, Juan Luna, and Osvaldo Tinoco. Luna and Tinoco each added an assist, and Alejandro Tinoco had two assists in the game.

The defense for Toombs played well and kept the ball out of their half for much of the game. Angel Nino did make five saves in the game as goalkeeper.

This week Toombs will travel to Hebron Christian on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., and then will be at Putnam County on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
