VHS Wins Indian Invitational


The Vidalia High School Indian Invitational was hosted Friday night at Buck Cravey Field and ended with a clear sweep for the VHS boys and girls teams as they defeated Appling County and Toombs County.
The Lady Indians finished in first place with 162 points, Appling County had 125 points, and Toombs County had 35 points. For the boys, VHS took the win with 178 points, Appling had 123, and Toombs finished with 53 points.
Coach Mandy Godbee said, “We ended up with 23 personal best performances and 20 first place finishes. With these results, the team is climbing the state rankings in pursuit of a championship. Our coaching staff is extremely proud of these athletes and their hard work and dedication they put forth every day. In 10 years of coaching in Vidalia, I have never had this many personal best performances in one meet, this is a result of our coaching staff and athletes' hard work and diligence.”
Girls
For the Lady Indians,Dashia Ford led the way with a 1st place in the 100m hurdles with a PR, 1st place in the 3o0m hurdles, and 2nd place in the triple jump. Takaiyah Bacon took 1st place in the long jump and was also 1st in the triple jump. J'Miyah Hunt finished 1st in the 100m dash, and was 2nd in the 200m. Georgia Meredith came in 1st in the 3,200m run and was 2nd in the 1,600m run. And Maniyah Phillips took 1st in the shot put and was 3rd in the discus.
Also finishing well for the Lady Indians were Judith Hussey, who was 2nd in the 800m run, 2nd in the 3,200m, and 5th in the 1,600m. Kayden Love was 2nd in the 100m dash. Alana Claxton was 2nd in the high jump and was 3rd in continued from page

The 4x100m relay team of Kayden Love, Journey Clements, Zaviyana Walton, and J'Miyah Hunt took 1st place. The 4x200m team of Kayden Love, Zaviyana Walton, Dashia Ford, and J'Miyah Hunt came in 1st. And the 4x800m team of Georgia Meredith, Judith Hussey, Aidyn Driggers, and Jesse Wynn took 1st place. The 4x400m relay team of Jesse Wynn, Takaiyah Bacon, Aidyn Driggers, and Zaviyana Walton came in 2nd place.
Boys
Jayden Young led the Indians with a 1st place finish in the 100m dash with a PR and 1st place finishes in the both the 110m and 300m hurdles, both with PR's. Cash Driggers took 1st place in the 800m run, and was 1st in the 1,600m run. Chamlee Evans took 1st in the 3,200m and was 2nd in the 1,600m. Jayon Coleman finished in 1st place in the triple jump with a PR and was 2nd in the long jump. Jack Godbee was 1st in the pole vault. CJ Monroe was 1st in the discus with a PR and was 2nd in the shot put. And Kashun Coney took 1st in the shot put with a PR.
Roderick Berry finished 2nd in the 800m. Tavarius Franklin was 2nd in the 3,200m with a PR and was 3rd in the 1,600m with a PR. And Chandler Stokes was 2nd in the 300m hurdles. Tyler McKinney came in 3rd in the 100m with a PR. Jamarre Wiggs finished 3rd in the 200m. Jaden Bennett was 3rd in the 800m with a PR. And DJ Wallace was 3rd in the long jump. Greg Taylor was 4th in the 1,600m with a PR, and he was 4th in the 3,200m with a PR. The 4x800m relay team of Adrian Newkirk, Jordan Johnson, Roderick Berry, and Cash Driggers took 1st place. The 4x200m team of Jaydyn Young, Adrian Newkirk, Tyler McKinney, and Ja-Marre Wiggs came in 2nd place.The 4x400m team of Jordan Johnson, Adrian Newkirk, Kashun Coney, and Cash Driggers finished 2nd. And the 4x100m team of Tyler McKinney, Nate Nichols, AJ McClendon, and Ja-Marre Wiggs came in 3rd place.
