BPC Barons Pick Up 3 Wins

It was a good week for the Brewton-Parker College Barons baseball team as they picked up three wins. They took a game over Reinhardt, and then won in a double header over the Firehawks of Tennessee Southern. They did drop a third game against the Firehawks, but were 3-1 on the week. vs. Tennessee Friday The Barons hosted the Firehawks of the University of Tennessee Southern in a doubleheader on Friday. The Barons took game one 5-3 in seven innings. In a high-scoring affair in game two, the Barons clinched a tight 19-17 victory over the Firehawks. These significant wins lift the Barons' season record to 14-27.
Game one opened with Marquette Gibson hitting a triple in the first inning, setting the tone for what was to come. He scored the initial run for the Barons following a passed ball, thrusting the team into an early lead. It was Jeremi Lara who truly shone during the game, not only hitting a home run but also a double, driving in 2 runs. His performance was instrumental in the Barons gaining and maintaining their lead. Jack Morris was not far behind, rewarding the team with a fourth-inning homerun and collecting an RBI.
Key to their defensive efforts was Alex Muns, the starting pitcher, who gave the Barons the stability they needed. The game's intensity escalated further when Shaun Carlos Munoz took the mound, helping to secure the win by throwing 2.0 innings of shutout baseball.
Game two was a showcase of offensive power from both sides, but it was the Barons who emerged victorious. Both teams traded leads back and forth during the game. In the sixth inning, the Barons hit back-toback home runs thanks to Orlando Perez and Elijah Baptist, helping to cut the lead. Perez flashed the leather at both first and second base, making critical plays to keep the Barons in the game. Despite the Barons falling behind, their resilience showed through helping them score five runs in the sixth and seven runs in the eighth to help carry them to victory. Key players like Jeremi Lara, Orlando Perez, and Elijah Baptist were monumental in this effort, driving in crucial runs and even hitting home runs. Lara, in particular, was a standout, delivering three hits, including two home runs, and accumulating 5 RBIs.
Starting pitcher Jack Hulse handled the mound responsibilities for Brewton-Parker, but the team used several different arms out of the bullpen, culminating in seven different pitchers. Shaun Carlos Munoz got credited with the win, and Brandon Russell came in to stop the Firehawks in the ninth. vs. Tennessee Saturday In a challenging conference face-off, the Brewton-Parker Barons were defeated by the University of Tennessee Southern Firehawks with a final score of 13-6 on April 19, 2025. The game, held in Mount Vernon, saw the Barons struggle to contain their opponents' offense despite valiant efforts on the field.
Carson Kirby, Marquette Gibson, Jeremi Lara, J. Reid Phillips, Elijah Baptist, and Jordan Rahn all scored for the Barons. In terms of RBIs, Kirby managed to bring in two runs, while Lara added three more, and Kennard Dawson contributed with a single RBI. Jeremi Lara also stood out by hitting a homerun during the game, adding to his substantial numbers throughout the series. Dylan Speakman started on the mound for Brewton- Parker but faced tough opposition against the Firehawks' hitters.
