Indian Tennis Over Claxton

It was a great day on the courts as both the Vidalia High School girls and boys tennis teams picked up impressive wins on the road against Claxton.

For the Lady Indians, Laylah Brantley controlled the pace at #1 singles, earning a 6-3, 6-2 win. Elizabeth Sowell followed with a strong showing at #2 singles, winning 6-2, 6-1. At #3 singles, Hannah Nichols fought through a threeset battle, bouncing back after dropping the first set to win 4-6, 6-2, 12-10. In doubles action, Deidra Boston and Sadie Berry were dominant at the #1 spot, taking a decisive 6-0, 6-2 victory. Annalyn Helms and Isabella Royal rounded out the day for the girls with a 6-3, 6-0 win at #2 doubles.

The Boys Tennis team also brought home a win, led by Caleb Beck’s solid performance at #1 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Larson Carter kept the momentum going at #2 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Stone Smith added another point with a win by forfeit at #3 singles. At #1 doubles, Ryker Hyers and Cooper Mc-Callum delivered a 6-2, 6-2 win, while Sam Varn and Kingston Schwyzer also earned a win by forfeit at #2 doubles.

Both Coach McLeod and Coach Gillies praised the team’s continued growth, noting that they are making strides with every match, playing with resilience, determination, and a fearless mindset.

Next up for both teams is the State Playoffs starting this week with opponents and times to be announced. The boys will host their match, and the girls will travel for the first round of the playoffs.
