Robert Toombs Christian Academy Lady Crusaders soccer team hosted David Emanuel Academy for a senior night Pink Out on Thursday of last week. This was a region contest between the schools and thus important to the team’s overall record.

The Crusaders have been on a roll with girls and boys teams defeating Vidalia Heritage last week. Thursday night proved no different as the Lady Crusaders showed up and showed out.

Seven seniors were recognized at senior night for the girls and boys teams. The Lady Crusaders then took the field after the recognition. Senior Kylie Acosta was ready to play and kicked off the team’s scoring with 2 goals. This created a chain reaction as the Crusaders found 3 more goals before halftime claimed by sophomore Jayden Butterworth, Junior Madaline Wolfe, and 8th grader Addison Botelho.

The Lady Crusaders decided to change things all around after halftime in honor of senior night and pulled Meredith Durden from the goal to play a forward. This proved to pay dividends as the first year player earned a goal for the team. The Crusaders did give up a goal around the 60 min mark but continued to be successful offensively. 8th grader Mattie Grace Palma scored on a beautiful shot assisted by 8th grader Ava Scott and sophomore Maggie Bowers. Junior Kailen Brantley would not be left out as she added another goal assisted by senior Maddie Joiner.

Overall, the win was a team effort and a great end to the week for the Lady Crusaders. All four soccer teams will travel to Hinesville to play FPCA for the last region game of the season on Wednesday, April 30.
