Onion Festival Golf Classic Held


Last Thursday at the Swainsboro Golf Club, the Vidalia Onion Festival Golf Classic was held. It was hosted by the Rotary Club of Vidalia and was a four-man scramble tournament featuring 18 teams. The tournament raised money to support the Rotary Club's community initiatives.
The winning team for the tournament was Team Woodruff, with TQ Contructors Inc. taking second place, and One World Solar coming in third place. The winner of the long drive competition was Sloan Fountain, and the winner of closest-to-the-pin was Garrett Curtin. Team Woodruff was made up of Drew Woodruff, Chandler Corbet, Ashton Phillips, and Sloan Fountain. They shot a team score of -17. TQ Contructors was Mark Jordan, Chris Seabolt, Russ Bell, and Matt Bell with a score of -16, and One World Solar also shot -16 but lost on regression and was made up of Cason Devane, Wayne Strickland, Tim Strickland, and Doug Baird.
Lunch for the event was provided by Sweet Onion Social and the Vidalia Chick-fil-A. Tent sponsor was AgSouth Farm Credit, and commemorative golf towels were provided by Wittek Golf Industries.
