VHA Gets One Win Over FPCA

The Eagles baseball team of Vidalia Heritage Academy played a threegame series against First Preparatory Christian Academy last week, with FPCA taking two of the three games. Heritage got a win in the final game of the week.

Game 1

In the first game of the series on Monday in Hinesville, the Eagles lost a close, one-run game. VHA took the lead in the top of the first inning with two runs, but FPCA plated one in the bottom of the frame to make the score 2-1.

VHA added a run in the top of the second inning to push their lead to 3-1, but FPCA came back in the third inning with two more runs to tie the game at 3-3.

Heritage took the lead back in the top of the sixth inning with one run, but the Highlanders added two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-4 lead over Heritage. VHA was not able to score in the top of the seventh inning as FPCA took the win, 5-4.

Game 2

The second game of the series was in Vidalia on Tuesday, and it was another battle that came down to the final inning.

FPCA came out with two runs in the top of the first inning, and added two more in the third to take a 4-0 lead over the Eagles. Heritage got the bats going in the fourth inning as they tied the game at 4-4.

The Highlanders took the lead back in the top of the fifth inning with two more runs, but VHA plated four in the bottom of the frame to take an 8-6 lead. Heritage extended their lead to 10-6 in the bottom of the sixth inning, but in the top of the seventh, the Highlanders went on a run as they scored five runs to take an 11-10 lead over the Eagles.

VHA couldn't get anything across in the bottom of the seventh as they fell, 11-10.

Greer Posey led the Eagles with 4 RBIs in the game.

Game 3

In the final game of the week, it was all Eagles as they rolled to a win. Heritage took the lead in the top of the first inning with two runs, but neither team could get anything else across over the next three innings. Finally in the top of the fifth, the Eagles scored three more runs to push their lead to 5-0. They added a run in the sixth and one more in the top of the seventh to lead, 7-0. FPCA did manage to get a run across in the bottom of the seventh, but that was all they could muster as VHA took the win, 7-1.

VHA took on John Milledge on Monday of this week after presstime. They will be back in action next week to wrap up the regular season.
