Mrs. Dorothy Lee Monroe Aaron, age 89, of Lyons, died on Thursday, February 4, 2021, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. Mrs. Aaron was a native of Toombs County and lived in Lyons for most of her life. She worked at Globe Manufacturing in Vidalia for many years and owned and operated Dot’s Café in Lyons. She was the last living charter member of East Gordon Street Baptist Church in Lyons, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Women’s Missions Union. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra J. Aaron; her parents, Isaac Monroe and Mariah Stephens Monroe; 1 son-inlaw, Bobby McNure; and 8 siblings, Isaac Monroe, Jr., D.Q. Monroe, Leroy Monroe, Harold Monroe, Raiford Monroe, James “Ed” Monroe, Diane Monroe Keene, and Alvin “Buck” Monroe. Survivors include 3 children, Brenda Aaron McNure, E.J. Aaron and wife Lavonne, and Marie Aaron Creamer and husband Kenny, all of Lyons; 2 sisters, Janie Lee and husband Don of Albany, and Maudell Matthews of Lyons; 6 grandchildren, Andrea James and husband Kevin of Lyons, Shonda Mixon and husband Jeremy of Ailey, Ken Creamer, Jessica Carter and husband Brad, and Lee Creamer, all of Lyons, and Justin Aaron and wife Tabitha of Vidalia; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great- great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service was held on Monday, February 8, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in the Lyons City Cemetery, with Pastor Bruce Conner officiating.
Flowers will be accepted, but the family prefers memorial contributions to the East Gordon Street Baptist Church, P.O. Box 131, Lyons, GA 30436.
