Treutlen Sweeps Dublin

The Treutlen County High School Vikings baseball team played a three-game series with the Fighting Irish of Dublin last week and swept the Region foe.

Game 1

In the first game of the series the Vikings took the game by the run rule. Treutlen picked up two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the early lead. They added four more runs in the second as they took a commanding 6-0 lead.

Treutlen added five more in the third and then closed out the game in the fourth inning with a run to win 12-0 over the Irish.

Game 2

It took the Vikings a bit longer to get the offense going on Friday. They picked up a run in the top of the first inning to hold a 1-0 lead. Two more runs came in the third inning to push the lead to 3-0, but in the bottom of the fourth Dublin got on the board to close the lead to 3-1.

The Vikings scored two more in the top of the fifth, but Dublin plated one in the bottom of the frame as the Vikings led 5-2.

In the sixth inning Treutlen blew the game open with four runs to take a 9-2 lead into the seventh. The Vikings put seven more runs on the board in the final inning to win the game 16-2.

Game 3

In the second game of the double header on Friday and the final game of the Region series, the Irish made it a closer game, but Treutlen came away with the win. Dublin took the lead in the bottom of the first inning with 1 run. Treutlen came back with five in the top of the third inning to jump out to a 5-1 lead. Dublin answered with two in the bottom half of the frame to close it to 5-3. Neither team scored anything in the fourth inning, but in the fifth Dublin made it a 5-4 game with a run, but in the sixth Treutlen plated one run for a 6-4 lead. The Vikings capped it off in the seventh with three more insurance runs as they pulled out the 9-4 win. This week is a nonregion week for the Vikings as they played ACE Academy on Monday and then Swainsboro on Tuesday after presstime. They will play Emanuel County Institute on Wednesday at 5:30 in Twin City for the final game of the week.
