Indians Postpone Season
The Vidalia High School Football team has temporarily suspended football practices after a small number of the program either tested positive for or have been exposed to the COVID-19 Virus.
In our student-athletes' best interest, we have decided to suspend all practices until Tuesday, September 8. At this time, we believe we will be able to resume preparations for the upcoming season. However, because of the new GHSA guidelines requiring reacclamation, it has become necessary to cancel the season opener scheduled for September 11 against Appling Co.
All proper procedures and protocols set forth by our Athletic Department and the State of Georgia are being observed by the team and those affected by the exposure or positive test.
'We had a couple of guys and a coach test positive for the Virus, so out of concern and safety for our studentathletes, we feel it's better to shut it down for a while,' said Vidalia Head Coach Jason Cameron.
'We all want to play this season, and hopefully, we will be able to do that, but we as a coaching staff are more concerned about our players and fellow coaches, so we believe this is the right thing to do,' added Cameron.
