Obituaries

Ms. Kathy McCoy McLendon Myers, age 60, of Hazlehurst, died on Monday, September 20, 2021, at Jeff Davis Hospital in Hazlehurst after a brief battle with Covid. Ms. Myers was a native of Vidalia and was a 1979 graduate of Vidalia Comprehensive High School. She was a licensed practical nurse, earning a Nursing degree from Southeastern Technical Institute in Vidalia. She nursed at Oxley Park in Lyons, Rogers State Prison, worked in home health care, and was a traveling nurse. She attended the Oasis Church of God. Preceding her in death was her mother, Lou Ellen Beasley McCoy; 1 brother, Kenneth Warren McCoy; and 1 brother-in-law, Ricky Odom.

Her family includes 2 children, Shannon Michael McLendon and wife Tommie, and Kasey Brooke McLendon, all of Vidalia; her grandchildren, Brooklyn Autumn McLendon, Lendon Kyler Chance, Kaiden Cross Chance, and Kasen Kane McLendon, all of Hazlehurst, Maci Nicole McLendon, Lauren Taylor McLendon, Gracie Eryn McLendon, and Colton Cage McLendon; her father, Cecil Warren McCoy; 2 brothers, Michael Warren McCoy, Sr., and Russell Allan McCoy; 1 sister, Vicky Ann Odom, all of Vidalia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside funeral service was held on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Treutlen County, with Bishop Gilbert Wommack officiating.
