Toombs Rolls Over Riverside

The Toombs County High School Bulldogs football team found their rhythm on offense as they racked up the points against Riverside Military Academy last Friday night on the road in Gainesville. Toombs put 62 points on the board while their defense held the Eagles scoreless.

Toombs took the lead early in the game and went on top 7-0 over Riverside. They scored on their second drive on a Tamarien McArthur run to make it 14-0 after the extra point by Jesus Mata. Then with 4:20 left in the first quarter McArthur made it 21-0 with a 35-yard run and the added PAT.

Gavin Hall found a receiver with 2:28 left in the first as the Bulldogs pushed their lead to 28-0 after the Mata kick. Toombs scored one more time in the first quarter of the game and took a 34-0 lead to the second.

From there the Bulldogs offense did slow down, but they did add several more scores over the remainder of the game.

Toombs scored a touchdown in the second quarter of the game as they took a 41-0 lead into halfitme.

In the third quarter the Bulldogs blocked a punt which led to another touchdown, and a 48-0 lead.

In the fourth Toombs led 55-0 with nine minutes to go in the game and ended up winning the game 62-0 over the Eagles of Riverside.

Quarterback Hall went 11-12 on the night and threw for 144 yards and 4 touchdowns. Toombs added 143 yards in rushing spread across four players. Tank Morris led the defense with 10 tackles.

Toombs is now 2-3 on the season. This week they will be at Bacon County on Friday night with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
