Wheeler Falls In Two Games

The Wheeler County High School softball team took on Toombs County and Telfair County last week. The Lady Bulldogs of Wheeler fell in both games.

Vs. Toombs

It was a close game between the two Bulldog teams on Wednesday in Lyons last week. Toombs took the early lead with two runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Wheeler closed the lead to 2-1 with a run in the top of the fifth inning, but Toombs answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame to lead 4-1. Wheeler scored a final run in the top of the seventh inning to make the final score 4-2 with Toombs taking the win.

Vs. Telfair

Telfair broke the game open in the bottom of the first inning with five runs. They added three more in the second inning to push their lead to 8-0. Telfair scored one run in each of the third and fourth innings on the way to a 10-0 win over Wheeler.

Wheeler is 9-7 on the season with just a few games left to play. This week they hosted Dublin on Monday and hosted Wilcox County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be at Hawkinsville on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. They will close out the regular season on Tuesday of next week at Johnson County.
