Kinetic Launching Broadband in Montgomery, Wheeler Counties

Last week, Kinetic officials visited Mt. Vernon and Alamo to launch broadband in those communities.

Kinetic by Windstream passes nearly 540,000 households in Georgia that can receive 25 Mbps or greater and over 147,000 households have access to gigabit speeds.

Nearly 3,000 customers in Montgomery County qualify for speeds of 25mbps or greater and over 1,000 in Mount Vernon qualify for gigabit speeds. In Wheeler County, nearly 800 customers qualify for speeds of 25mbps or greater and 450 in Alamo qualify for gigabit speeds.

“When we build fiber into one of our rural communities, we hope the community will use the opportunity to market gigabit speeds and drive economic development and growth. We remain open to conversations on how to collaborate with EMCs in every community we serve. We believe that collaboration with EMCs has a lot of value in serving the rural customer,” said Michael Foor, Kinetic President of Georgia Operations. Foor was in Mt. Vernon to join local dignitaries for a ribbon cutting in that community. “We are excited to launch gig fiber in downtown Mt Vernon where over 1,000 households will be covered. Our goal is now to see you take it and run with it.” Mayor Joey Fountain said the phones of local officials have been ringing off the hook about broadband service. “We are proud to have you here to serve 1,000 customers, and, of course, this is important for economic development.”

In Alamo, as Kinetic kicked off the launch of services to 400 premises, District 149 state Rep. development and growth of the area from the schools to health care, across the board. I think we all recognize how critical this is infrastructure wise. ”

Alamo’s City Manager Jeff Floyd said the service is coming in at a crucial time. “We are striving here for economic development. We have new businesses coming to town and we welcome this.”
