Toombs Rolls Over Bacon

The Toombs County High School Bulldogs football team got a big night out of quarterback Gavin Hall as he went 1417 passing for 262 yards and five touchdowns in the first half of the game. Toombs rolled to an easy victory over the Red Raiders of Bacon County in Alma last Friday. The Bulldogs got a big pass play from Hall to Caden Marsh in the first quarter for 30 yards down to the 19-yard line that set up their first score of the game. The score came on a 16-yard pass from Hall to Lagonza Harward. With the extra point from Jesus Mata, the Bulldogs led 7-0. Bacon County did get a field goal in the first quarter to close the lead to 7-3. The next touchdown came with just over eight minutes left in the first half on a 46-yard pass from Hall to Cameron Robinson. With the extra point it was a 14-3 lead for TCHS. On the Bulldogs' next possession they moved the ball down to the six yard line before Hall again found Robinson for a touchdown pass. That put TCHS on top 21-3. They added a 22-yard pass from Hall to Caden Versluis for a 28-3 lead with 2:11 left in the first half.

Toombs added one more touchdown in the first half of the game when Hall connected with Robinson again, this time for 21 yards and a touchdown. They added the extra point to give them a 35-3 with just 17 seconds to play in the half.

With his work done, Hall sat out the second half as the Bulldogs were able to get several players playing time with the big lead.

In the second half Cameron Faison scored on a 46-yard run with just over nine minutes left in the third quarter. That put TCHS up 42-3 after the PAT from Mata. Juju Cutler added a 15-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to give TCHS a 49-3 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

The final touchdown of the game for Toombs was set up by a 48-yard run by Faison. Cutler went in then from 19 yards out as TCHS took a 56-3 lead.

The Bulldogs had just over 500 yards of total offense in the game. The win moves the Bulldogs to 3-3 on the year and 1-0 in Region play. This week they will have the daunting task of hosting the Yellow Jackets of Jeff Davis, who are currently ranked #5 in the state in AA. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. in The Pit.
