Obituaries

Mrs. Joanne E. Rolen, age 79, of the Johnson Corner Community, died on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, from injuries received from an accident near her home. Mrs. Rolen was born in Canton, MA, and she and her family lived in numerous cities along the eastern seaboard and in northeastern Florida for many years before moving to Toombs County in 1973. She was manager at Hardee’s in Vidalia for several years. She was a homemaker and Catholic by faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe V. Rolen, Sr.; 1 son, Joe V. Rolen, Jr.; 1 daughter, Donna Rolen; her parents, John Force Martin and Beatrice Daisy Stevens Martin; 1 sister, Mary Margaret Surh; and 1 brother, Danny Martin. Her family includes her children, Gaine Rolen and wife Lolita of Aurora, MO, Cheryl Klipsch and husband Dave of Lyons, Belinda Beck and husband Jason of Soperton, Patricia Huard of Altamonte Springs, FL, Joanne Richardson and husband Marty of Ailey, and John Rolen and wife Jennifer of Vidalia; 7 siblings, John “Harold” Martin, Lawrence Martin of Lyons, Steven Martin, her identical twin, Anjeanette Martin Griffin of Brunswick, Theresa Hutchinson of Florida, Wayne Martin of Brunswick, and Kathleen Hutto of Jacksonville, FL; 14 grandchildren, Faith, Isaiah, Brian, Kristy, Amanda, Devin, Nathan, Brittany, Daley, Piper, Danny, Andrew, Jameson, and Jax; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service was held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., in the Lyons City Cemetery, with Pastor Doyle Waller officiating.
