Edith Jacqueline Moore Taylor, 86, died Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Big Bend Hospice, Tallahassee, FL, following a short illness. Memorial Services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2021, in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Don Moye Officiating. Burial followed at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Taylor was born July 6, 1935, in DeKalb County, Crossville, Alabama, the daughter of the late Edwin Emil and Pearl Lawman Moore of Calhoun, Georgia. She was preceded in death in 1975 by her husband of 19 years, Jackson Delano Taylor, Sr., “Jackie,” of Vidalia, GA, and in 1988 by her brother, Emil E. Moore, Jr., of Calhoun, GA.

Edith Taylor spent her earlier years in and near Calhoun, Georgia. She was an alumna of Calhoun High School and Bessie Tift College. She moved to Vidalia, GA, to join her husband in 1956, and spent 49 years there before moving to Tifton, Georgia, in 2005. Mrs. Taylor’s career was spent entirely in the construction field. She began at the age of 15 by working with her Dad in his builders supply company in Calhoun, GA, and then to Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta, GA. After moving to Vidalia, she worked for three construction companies as office manager, A.B. Newton & Co., Somers Construction, and A.P. Truett & Son. She retired in 1999 after 20 years with the 5th District, Georgia Department of Transportation in Baxley, Georgia.

Edith loved her church, home, community, family and friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia, Georgia, the Caring and Sharing Sunday School Class, served on several committees and was hostess for the church for several years. She attended Zion Hope Baptist Church in Tifton, GA.

Survivors include her son and daughter–in–law, Del & Pamela Moreland Taylor of Tifton, GA; her daughter, Jill Taylor Cox of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, DeAnn Taylor Webb & her husband Skyler Webb of Dothan, Alabama, Nicole Taylor Smith & her husband Tristen Smith of Tifton, GA, Charles & his wife Cassie Cox of Jacksonville, FL, Katherine Cox of Tallahassee, FL, and Taylor Cox of Tallahassee, FL. Her great–granddaughter Azalea Grace Cox is due in Jan, 2022. She is also survived by her sister–in–law Betty Dutton Moore Jones of Calhoun GA, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308.
