Vehicle Trailer Struck by Train

No injuries were reported when a vehicle pulling a trailer was struck by a train in Lyons last Friday. Lyons Police Chief Wesley Walker said the vehicle was blocked by another vehicle as the driver attempted to clear the tracks. While the vehicle made it across the tracks, the trailer it was pulling did not. The mishap occurred at South Lanier and Northeast Broad Streets in front of City Hall.

Walker said there are seven crossings in the City of Lyons, but only two crossings with electronic signals. “Every year we campaign to inform the public about safety at railroad crossings,” the Chief said.
