Wheeler Over Montgomery
The Bulldog basketball teams of Wheeler County High School faced off with Wilcox County and Montgomery County last week. The Lady Bulldogs dropped both of their games, and the boys split as they got a win over MCHS.
Girls vs. Wilcox
The Lady Bulldogs got another big game out of freshman Mahogany King as she scored 26 points on the night and kept the girls in the game.
Wheeler was down by just two points at the end of the first quarter, 11-9. In the second the Lady Bulldogs outscored Wilcox 11-10 to make it a one-point game at halftime, 21-20, with the Lady Patriots on top.

Boys vs. Wilcox
The boys also played a good game against a tough Wilcox County team, but came up short with the Patriots. Wilcox took the win over the Bulldogs 53-45.
Girls vs. MCHS
It has been a tough season for the Lady Bulldogs of Wheeler County, and that was no different on Friday night as they went up against the Lady Eagles. MCHS jumped out to an early lead and rolled to the win. MCHS was on top 21-4 by the end of the first quarter. The Lady Eagles pushed that lead to 54-12 at the end of the first half.
In the second half of the game MCHS was substituting throughout. The score was 69-18 at the end of the third, and the Lady Eagles secured the win, 78-19.
Wheeler was led by freshman Mahogany King with 11 points.
Boys vs. MCHS
The boys game was very different as Wheeler was in control of this one from the beginning. Wheeler was up 19-6 on MCHS early in the second quarter of the game.
Brandon Smallwood added a three-pointer to make it 22-6. Another three from Smallwood made it 25-8 with 3:30 left in the half. Two baskets from the Eagles closed it to 26-12, but at the end of the first half the score was 27-14 with the Bulldogs out in front.
In the second half of the game the Bulldogs pulled away to a 22-point win. Wheeler got the win 62- 40.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 0-13 on the season as they are still in a rebuilding year. The boys now have a record of 13-3 for the year and are 8-2 in the Region.
This week Wheeler hosted the Bobcats of Dooly County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back on the court on Friday when the Falcons of East Laurens come to town at 6:00 p.m. and then will host Telfair County on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
