MCHS Wrestles At State

The Montgomery County High School wrestling team sent nine wrestlers to the GHSA State Traditional Tournament last week. The Eagles wrestled hard but did not have any wrestlers place at the event. The Eagles lone female, Rebecca Dominguez, dropped her first round match by pin, but bounced back with a win in the first round of the consolations by pin. She then lost in the next round by major decision 12-4 to end her run. For the MCHS boys at 126lbs. Dreshun Patterson lost his first round match by pin, and then lost in the consolations by pin. At 132lbs. NiShawn Wise won in his first round match by pin, but fell in the second round by pin. In the consolations he got a win by a close 5-4 decision, and then lost in the next round by major decision 16- 7.

At 138lbs. Brandon Denmark won in the first round by a pin, but lost a 6-3 decision in the second round. He came back with a win in the consolations by pin in the first round, and in the second round he lost by pin to end his run.

At 145lbs. Rome Thornton lost in the first round by pin, and lost in the consolations by a technical fall 19-3. Mason Scott at 160lbs. lost in the first round by pin, and in the consolations also by pin.

At 182lbs. Jacob Carpenter won his first round match by pin, but fell in the quarterfinals by an 11-4 decision. In the consolations he lost due to sustaining an injury and having to drop out of the match.

Kaleb Waters at 195lbs. dropped his first round match by pin, and then lost in the consolations by pin. And at 220lbs. Ethan Price lost in the first round by major decision 19-8, won in the consolations by a forfeit, but fell in the second round by pin.
