VHS Soccer Wins 3

The Vidalia High School soccer teams took on Dodge County on Tuesday of last week and then were at Swainsboro on Thursday. The Lady Indians split their games and the boys won both of their contests.

Girls vs. Dodge

It was a close game throughout that went into overtime before the game was decided. In the overtime Dodge picked up two goals while the Indians scored one by Addy Reid. That gave VHS the loss, 2-1.

Boys vs. Dodge

In the boys game VHS got a goal in the first half by Charles Gillenwater as they took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half Gillenwater added another goal for VHS to give them a 2-0 win over Dodge.

Girls vs. Swainsboro

The Lady Indians picked up a goal in the first half of the game by Ally Whitaker with an assist from Georgia Meredith. That put them on top 1-0 at the end of the half. In the second half Meredith scored for the Indians as they took a 2-0 lead on the Lady Tigers. VHS held and took the win by that score.

Boys vs. Swainsboro

The Indians had a big game as they blew out the Tigers 6-1. VHS scored all six of their goals in the first half of the game. Clayton Cox led the way with 2 goals. Gillenwater, Gauge Martin, Hudson Sumner, and Tim Corbin each added a goal for VHS.

The girls are now 3-3 on the year and are 1-0 in Region play, while the boys are 3-4 on the year and are 1-0 in the Region.

This week the Indians were at Woodville-Tompkins on Tuesday after presstime, and will be back in action on Friday as they host cross-county rival Toombs County with the girls game starting at 5:00 p.m. with the boys to follow.
