Barons Fall To Dalton State

The No. 10-seeded Brewton-Parker College Barons men's basketball team wrapped up their 2021-22 campaign with a loss in the SSAC Tournament Opening Round against the No. 7-seeded Dalton State (Ga.). Roadrunners.
The Barons (2-29) were defeated by the Roadrunners (14-15), 87-56 at the Multiplex at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, AL. The game opened with back and forth from both sides as the Barons and Roadrunners traded lead changes early in the first half. BPC held its last lead 11-10 with 15:27 remaining before the DSC took over for the remainder of the game.
Dalton State went on an 8-0 run before the Barons scored at the 10:57 mark. The Roadrunners outscored the Barons 25-19 in the last 10 minutes to close out the first half with a 46-34 lead.
The dominant offense from DSC continued to the second half as the Roadrunners jumped out to a 20-point lead with 15:20 left in the game. Unfortunately, the Barons’ offense was diluted in the second half. Dalton State outscored Brewton-Parker 41-22 in the final 20 minutes to win, 87-56.
Three Barons scored in double figures with Jeffery Huff leading with 18 points followed by Aaron Udell with 17 and Antrell Williams with 10 points.
BPC shot for 38.6% from the floor, 28.6% from three, and 54.5% from the free-throw line. Dalton State dominated off the glass, outrebounding Brewton-Parker 43-21. Dalton State narrowly held the advantage in rebounds, 37-36. BPC turned the ball over 13 times while DSC gave the ball away 15 times. The Roadrunners scored 40 points off the bench while the Barons recorded 24 points from the bench.
Wednesday’s game closed out the season for the Barons.
