Barons Get SSAC Awards

The Brewton-Parker College basketball teams had several members that earned SSAC Awards. The SSAC released the womens and mens basketball award winners conference officials announced on Tuesday of last week.

Women

Two Lady Barons earned All-SSAC nods while three earned All-Academic honors. Madison Evans led the way with a First-Team All-SSAC selection as one of three conference point guards to earn the honor. The sophomore from Savannah, GA, averaged 14.8 points per game in conference play and 14.5 points per game overall. She has averaged 50% from the floor against SSAC opponents.

Angel McRae gathered both Second-Team All-SSAC and All-Freshman Team honors for her standout performance this season. During the season she averaged a doubledouble in all competitions, averaging 10.8 points a game and 11.4 rebounds per contest. In her freshman campaign, McRae has notched a total of 251 boards and has gathered a 48.6% field goal percentage in SSAC play. In overall contests, McRae led the SSAC in rebounds per game and was fifth in the conference with a 505.5% field goal percentage. Off the court, three student-athletes earned Barnes & Noble College All-Academic Team honors. Tamera Alexander, Cisley Copper, and Chmaiya Miller all earned academic honors. Lastly, Tyra Wilson was named to the Champions of Character Team for her character qualities on and off the floor.

Men

Both Bryce Wilson and Aaron Udell earned All-Freshman Team nods while two other Barons earned All-Academic honors. In addition, the team was honored with the SSAC Sportsmanship Award. For Wilson, he competed in 30 games while starting in 28 contests. He averages 7.3 points per game against SSAC opponents while shooting for 38% from the floor on average. He has also averaged 4.2 rebounds per game.

As for Udell, he has played in 24 games while starting five competitions. Udell has averaged a 34.7% field goal percentage in SSAC play while scoring 7.1 points per game against conference opponents.

Off the court, Cameron Cherry and Chance Hatcher earned Barnes & Noble College All-Academic Team honors while Cherry was named to the Champions of Character Team for his character qualities on and off the floor.
