Wheeler Rolls Over Dooly
The Wheeler County High School Bulldogs baseball team had four games scheduled for last week but was able to get just one in as the others were called off due to weather. They were supposed to play a three game Region series against Dooly County and a nonregion game against East Laurens, but were just able to get in the first game against Dooly on Tuesday in Vienna.
It was a one-sided game as the Bulldogs rolled over the Bobcats. Wheeler scored four runs in the top of the first inning to jump out to an early lead. Dooly picked up a run in the bottom half of the inning, but Wheeler added another in the top of the second to lead 5-1.
Then in the top of the third inning Wheeler broke the game open with seven more runs to put them in the lead, 12-1. Wheeler added six more in the fourth inning as they easily won 18-2.
Rhett Rodgers, Kyler Stinson, and Ian Scott each drove in two runs in the game.
This week Wheeler is slated to play a Region series against Wilcox County. The Tuesday game was at Wheeler after presstime. They will play a double header on Friday in Rochelle with the first game at 4:00 p.m.
