RTCA Baseball Wins 2
The Crusaders baseball team of Robert Toombs Christian Academy picked up two wins last week as they defeated Twiggs Academy and Fullington Academy. They lost their game on Tuesday, though, to Bulloch Academy in Statesboro. vs. Twiggs
It was a five inning run rule win for RTCA as Tripp Durden and Brittan Tabor combined for a nohitter. Durden threw the first four innings and Tabor closed out the fifth.
RTCA plated their first runs in the bottom of the second inning as they took a 2-0 lead. The Crusaders added five more in the third inning and then two more in the fourth as they took a 9-0 lead. RTCA closed out the game with one run in the fifth inning to win by the run rule, 10-0. Gage Brantley, Cayden Nance, and Andrew Tuck each drove in two runs in the game with TJ Stanley adding three hits.
vs. Bulloch
In RTCA's game against Bulloch, the Gators came out on top. RTCA picked up a run in the top of the first inning, but Bulloch came back with three in the bottom half to take a 3-1 lead. Bulloch added two more in the fourth inning to push their lead to 5-1.
The Gators scored three more in the fourth and one in the sixth. RTCA managed to score one run in the top of the fifth inning, but fell to the Gators, 9-2. Dawson Pinkard had two hits in the game for RTCA with Brantley picking up an RBI.
vs. Fullington
This was a very lopsided game for RTCA as they traveled to Pinehurst on Friday to take on the Trojans of Fullington. RTCA easily rolled to a win.
The Crusaders jumped out with 11 runs in the top of the first inning, and never looked back from there. They added three more in the second to lead 14-0.
The Trojans scored one in the third, but RTCA plated one in the top of the fourth inning. In the bottom half Fullington scored five runs to close the lead to 15-6, but RTCA went on a run as they scored 16 runs in the top of the fifth inning on the way to a 31-6 win.
RTCA is 7-2 on the season and 2-0 in Region play. This week they took on Memorial Day on Monday and played a double header with Vidalia Heritage Academy on Tuesday all after presstime. They will face Twiggs again on Thursday in Jeffersonville at 4:00 p.m.
