Lady Eagles Over Clinch
vs. Clinch
The Lady Eagles softball team of Montgomery County High School played games on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of last week and picked up a win over Clinch County. They fell to Portal and East Laurens. vs. Portal
MCHS was at Portal on Tuesday and put the first run of the game on the board in the top of the first inning. The Panthers answered back with a run in the bottom of the frame, and then added three more in the second to take a 4-1 lead.
MCHS closed the lead to 4-3 in the top of the third inning, but Portal plated one more in the bottom of frame to hold a 5-3 lead. Portal took the win in the bottom of the fifth inning with six more runs to win the game by the run rule, 11-3. MCHS was in Homerville on Wednesday to play the Panthers of Clinch County. The Eagles scored a run in the top of the first inning and plated two more in the third inning to lead 3-0.
Clinch came back with three runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game. But the Eagles scored four more in the top of the next inning to take a 7-3 lead. The Eagles scored two more in the top of the sixth inning. Clinch added a run in the sixth and one in the seventh, but it was not to be as MCHS won the game 9- 5. Marley Bell led the way with 4 RBI's. Shelly Conner and Charlee Ely each drove in 2 runs.
vs. E. Laurens
The Falcons of East Laurens have gotten their bats going here near the end of the regular season and it showed against MCHS. East Laurens started out a bit slow with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, but exploded for 12 runs in the second inning to take a 15-0 lead over the Eagles. The Falcons held in the top of the third inning to win the game by the run rule. MCHS is now 10-12 on the year and they are 4-4 in the Region. This week the Eagles hosted Wilcox County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Thursday at Wilcox at 5:00 p.m.
