Robert Toombs Christian Academy's 8th graders traveled to Atlanta, GA, for a field trip on Friday, October 21. This field trip was packed full of opportunities for the students to learn more about Georgia history. The first day the students went to the Atlanta History Center, where they saw the cyclorama of the Battle of Atlanta, along with several exhibits. They then headed to the Georgia Capitol. The students were given a tour of the capitol and were able to see the 'House of Representatives' for Georgia. The students then visited the Georgia Aquarium and ended their day at the Hard Rock Cafe.
On Saturday morning the group went to the Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site, Ebenezer Church and saw the home where Martin Luther King, Jr., grew up. They then headed to the Jimmy Carter Library and museum, where they watched a film on Jimmy Carter's life and toured several exhibits. Several students participated in an educational scavenger hunt to learn more while going through the museum. Next the students stopped by the Varsity for lunch and then headed to the Skyview Atlanta Ferris Wheel. The Ferris Wheel gave a wonderful view of the Atlanta skyline. The last stop was the World of Coca Cola. The students enjoyed the exhibits and the tastings of Coke products from other countries.
