Wheeler Gets 1 Win
It was a tough week for the Bulldogs basketball teams of Wheeler County High School as the boys picked up the only win of the week. On Wednesday Wheeler hosted Bleckley County, on Friday they were at Dublin, and then were back at home on Saturday against Metter.
Girls vs. Bleckley
The Royals jumped out to a 17-6 lead on Wheeler in the first quarter. The second quarter was closer, but Bleckley led 26-13 at halftime.
In the third Bleckley blew the game open and carried a 52-13 lead into the fourth. Bleckley took the win 65-15.
Boys vs. Bleckley
Bleckley led the game 13-8 at the end of the first and were on top 29-21 at the end of the first half.
At the end of the third the Royals were on top 4031, and they went on to win the game 54-45.
Girls vs. Dublin
Wheeler County did get 12 points from Nikita James, but the Lady Bulldogs lost the contest 5526.
Boys vs. Dublin
Dublin held a 14-10 lead at the end of the first, but pushed it to 30-21 by the end of the first half of action.
The Irish blew the game open in the third as they outscored the Bulldogs 25-7, and took the win 80-40.
Girls vs. Metter
The offense of the Lady Bulldogs continued to struggle as they fell behind 14-5 in the first quarter of the game. The Lady Tigers held a 32-14 lead at the end of the first half.
In the second half the scoring slowed for both teams, but Metter picked up the win, 48-23. James was the bright spot for Wheeler with 11 points.
Boys vs. Metter
It was the only win of the week for the Bulldogs as they won a close one over the Tigers. Wheeler held an early 6-1 lead and were up 11-7 later in the first.
In the third period it was a close game with Wheeler hanging onto a 29-26 lead. But at the end of the third the score was tied at 34-34.
Wheeler went back on top 41-35 after a run in the fourth, and held on to win the game 45-43 over the Tigers.
This week Wheeler will be at Treutlen on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and then on Saturday will host Montgomery County at 4:00 p.m.
