Wes Chapman, RPh Inaugurated 146th President 2020-2021 GPhA Board of Directors
On September 12, 2020, the Georgia Pharmacy Association (GPhA) held its first ever Georgia Pharmacy Virtual Convention. Outgoing President, Chris Thurmond, PharmD, Athens, Georgia, 2019-2020 GPhA Board President, presided over the inauguration ceremony and officially installed Wes Chapman, RPh, as the 146th President of the Georgia Pharmacy Association.
Wes Chapman, RPh, incoming 2020-2021 President of the Georgia Pharmacy Association, took an oath of offi ce and was sworn in. Chapman has been active in GPhA, National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), and Pharmacists United for Truth and Transparency (PUTT). He owns Chapman Healthcare Pharmacy, in Vidalia, Georgia. Chapman is a legacy president. His father was president thirty years ago from 1980-1981.
Chapman was celebrated in an official “Passing the Gavel” ceremony, where past presidents were honored. Past Presidents Bill Dunaway (1976-77), Jeff Lurey (1987-88), Tim Short (2018-2019), and Chris Thurmond (2019-2020) were present and participated in passing the gavel to Chapman. Thurmond told the virtual audience about Chapman, “Over the many years, you’ve demonstrated your commitment to the pharmacy profession in Georgia, and to our association. You have served GPhA well. And the caliber and amount of the work you’ve done on behalf of GPhA, speaks for itself.”
In addition to his inauguration, Chapman received several awards: McKesson Leadership Award (presented by Brian Thomas, VP/General Manager, McKesson) NCPA Leadership Award (presented by Brian Caswell, President, National Community Pharmacist Association), and the Smith Pharmacy Kaleidoscope Award (presented by Wade Lewis, President, Smith Drug).
