Lady Bulldogs Pick Up 2
The Toombs County High School soccer teams took on Tattnall County and Windsor Forest last week with the Lady Bulldogs winning both of their games and the boys falling in two close contests.
Girls vs. Tattnall
The Toombs County girls got a goal each from Anyadi Colmenares and Maritza Zamorano in the game. It was enough with the TCHS defense to take a 2-1 win over the Lady Warriors. Madison Cruz had four saves in goal as well for the Bulldogs.
Boys vs. Tattnall
The Bulldogs got their only goal of the game in the first half from Jose Leon. Tattnall also had one goal in the first half sending it to halftime tied at 1-1.
In the second half the Warriors picked up two more goals on the way to a 3-1 win over Toombs. Tucker Brodnax did have nine saves in the game in goal for Toombs.
Girls vs. Windsor
The Lady Bulldogs dominated the Lady Knights of Windsor. Toombs scored nine times in the first half of the game and then one more in the second half to win, 10-0.
Colmenares found the back of the net 5 times, and Zamorano added 3 goals. Emmerson Powell and Cielo Cruz each scored one goal in the game.
Boys vs. Windsor
It was a defensive struggle which saw only one goal allowed in the game. Neither team got on the board in the first half of the contest, but in the second half Windsor scored the only goal of the game. That gave them the 1-0 victory.
The Lady Bulldogs are 3-1-1 on the year and 2-0 in the Region, while the boys are 3-2 but 0-2 in Region play. This week Toombs was at Pierce County on Tuesday after presstime, and will be back in action on Friday at Brantley County with the first game at 5:00 p.m.
